No Carve Unicorn Pumpkin

October 4, 2020

The adorable no carve unicorn pumpkin is created with a faux craft pumpkin from the craft store and adorned with a cute face created with heat transfer vinyl. Adorn your sweet unicorn with a glittery horn and rainbow mane and perch her on your front porch this Halloween.

Rainbow Unicorn Pumpkin Halloween Craft

Here at Crafty Little Gnome we love all things magical, colorful and cute. And by “we” I mean my daughter Chloe and I.

Carving pumpkins is one of those activities I love to do every fall no matter how old I get. If scooping out pumpkin guts and working with small children and knives isn’t your idea of fun, you can still get into the Halloween spirit with this no carve unicorn pumpkin.

To create the unicorn’s face we used a Cricut machine but if you don’t have one you can get artistic and draw or paint a unicorn face onto the pumpkin. I have the SVG files for you to download for free below.

Supplies

  • Unicorn Pumpkin Cut File (see below for email sign up)
  • Black Heat Transfer Vinyl
  • White Craft Pumpkin (10-12 inch)
  • Gold Glitter Craft Foam
  • Rainbow Roving
  • Small Amount of White and Pink Craft Felt

Tools

  • Cricut Explore Air 2, Cricut Joy or Cricut Maker
  • Light Grip Mat
  • Cricut EasyPress Mini

Instructions

  1. Download the cut file set, upload to Cricut Design Space and follow the prompts to cut the eye, mouth and nose shapes from the heat transfer vinyl. Because there is not any text, you do not need to mirror the design, but do remember to put the heat transfer vinyl shiny-side-down onto the light grip mat.
  2. Weed each of the vinyl designs and gently position them on the pumpkin.
  3. Use the EasyPress Mini to affix the vinyl designs onto the front side (whichever side you pick) of the pumpkin.
  4. Peel away the transfer sheet from the pumpkin.
  5. Follow the prompts to cut out the felt and craft foam pieces of the design (or just cut them by hand–I forgot to cut out the horn before I shut down Cricut Design Space, so I did that part by hand).
  6. Assemble the ears by putting the pink craft felt bits inside the white ear shapes. Hot glue these to either side of the pumpkin’s top.
  7. Fit the horn onto the top of the pumpkin, curved around the pumpkin’s stem.
  8. Style the rainbow roving into a braid, swirl or simple length and hot glue onto the pumpkin’s top around the horn.
Yield: 1 pumpkin
