Project Complete: Lovely Laundry Room

April 23, 2012

What was once my Super Scary Laundry Room is now as pretty as can be! Thanks to everyone for your input and advice over this project I started several months ago.  Now, lets check out some pics!

There was clearly a lot of work to be done. I started by ripping off the ugly grey tile board on the wall. To my surprise under the tile board were giant 8 inch holes all over the wall. I bought a wall paneling kit from Home Depot.  It came with panels that fit together as well as base boards and the chair rail. It was pretty easy to install with construction adhesive and nails. It totally covered up the giant holes.

The walls got a coat of pretty blue paint. I got this shade from the “Oops” section at Home Depot. I always check the paint screw ups in case there is a color there I might like.  Everything else got a coat of fresh white paint. The hot water tank and heater are in the laundry room too. There were no doors to hide them so I put up some curtains to disguise the ugliness!

The floors were totally gross. I put down some peel and stick vinyl tiles. It was super easy and quick.
The chandelier is from Overstock. I love buying light fixtures from Overstock. They have a huge selection at great prices.

The art was actually a calendar I bought for $5. I took it apart and framed the pictures.

I’m quite pleased with myself. I did everything all by myself. My husband helped me cut two pieces of wood because I am a wuss when it comes to using the saw. But other than that it was all me!
How do you think it turned out?

You house is going to be so awesome when it's done. I think you should do a big Home Tour post for us, so we can get a feel for how it all flows together.

    This looks great!

And you should be pleased! You managed to make magic with your laundry room! I love the milky light blue color and the art… I know it is not good to say that, having in mind that I am ow selling my own fine art photography, but teh calendar was a great idea!

So cute! Great job. I love a chandelier and artwork in a laundry room. The curtain is a great idea too. And Oops paint is always my first stop at Home Depot. 🙂

    Thanks Sonya,
I like to support artists when I can but since I wanted to fill the whole wall up that would have become very expensive! I love your new art prints btw!
