Easter is around the corner, and in this DIY Easter basket tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a beautiful handmade basket using your Cricut machine and Creative Fabrica SVG files. In this tutorial, I'll guide you through creating a beautiful Easter basket using cardstock and a Cricut machine. With the help of a digital SVG from Creative Fabrica, you'll have a personalized and charming basket to fill with treats for loved ones.

Materials Needed

  • Cardstock in assorted colors
  • Cricut machine (I used the Cricut Explore 3)
  • Cutting mat
  • Glue stick
  • Digital SVG file from Creative Fabrica

Instructions

Selecting Your SVG File

Head over to the Creative Fabrica website and browse their collection of Easter-themed SVG files. Choose a design that appeals to you and fits the size you desire for your Easter basket. I used the Easter Basket: Butterflies file. Once you’ve selected a design, download the file to your computer.

Preparing Your Cricut Machine

Turn on your Cricut Machine and launch the Design Space software. Upload the SVG file you downloaded from Creative Fabrica. Adjust the size of the design according to your preferences. Ensure that your cutting mat is loaded with the appropriate color of cardstock for each part of the design.

Cutting Your Cardstock

Follow the prompts in Design Space to load the appropriate tools and set your material to cardstock. Once everything is set up, proceed with cutting the design. Be sure to pay attention to any scoring lines indicated in the SVG file, as these will help create clean folds later on.

 Assemble Your Basket

Carefully remove the cut pieces from the cutting mat. Begin by folding along the scored lines to create the basic shape of the basket. Use glue or adhesive to secure the tabs and edges together to form the basket's structure. Take your time to ensure everything is aligned properly.

Fill Your Basket

Kids will love to assemble these baskets and you can let them customize their baskets with glitter, markers or paint. You could even add googly eyes to the butterfly’s faces and pipe cleaners for the antennae. Once your Easter basket is complete, it's time to fill it with goodies! Whether you prefer chocolate eggs, candies, or small toys, fill the basket with treats that will delight the recipient. You can also make a fun wood burned picture frame to give as a gift.
