Mean Girls Burn Book Tutorial
One of my all-time favorite movies is Mean Girls. It’s hard to believe that movie came out over 10 years ago. I recently watched it, and after all this time it still holds up. It’s hilarious.
Mean Girls stars Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. It’s about the “Mean Girls” in high school, the back-stabbing mind games they play and how they basically torture each other through petty bullying.
I think we all knew a group of mean girls in high school and hopefully you weren’t one of them! In the movie the “Burn Book” is a diary that the mean girls create to write nasty things about people they don’t like, and basically make fun of the unpopular kids.
For today’s tutorial I am going to show you how to re-create your own version of the “Burn Book” from Mean Girls. How you use the book is up to you. Personally I would never keep a book full of mean things written about others. That’s not really my jam and seems like it would be bad karma.

I like to keep a stack of notebooks around to jot down ideas, make to-do lists and help keep my brain organized, so that’s what I will be using my Burn Book for. If you want to be ironic you could use it as a gratitude journal.
If you haven’t seen the movie, you should probably stop everything and go watch it and after you do, come back here to and learn how to make your own Burn Book Journal.

Directions to Make a Burn Book
Flip through a magazine and cut out letters that spell “BURN BOOK”
Arrange them on the journal, and when you are happy with their placement use a glue stick to adhere them in place.
Paint your lips with red lipstick and give the center of the journal a smooch.
Use a black permanent marker to doodle on the front of the journal.
When you are happy with the way the journal looks, stick a laminating sheet over the front of the cover and smooth out any air bubbles.
Open your book and start writing!
How will you use your burn book? Let me know in the comments and if you liked this post feel free to share it!
