This thin crust spicy chili pizza is a tasty homemade dinner recipe that spice lovers won’t be able to get enough of. Homemade thin crust dough is covered with tomato sauce, pepperoni, zucchini, sausage, cheese onions and sweet chili sauce.
Thin Crust Sweet Chili Pizza
I love spicy foods but sometimes they don’t love me. There is nothing worse than enjoying a hot and spicy dinner or snack and then suffering for it later.
I suffer from occasional heartburn, especially at night after enjoying one of my favorite spicy foods. When occasional heartburn with sleeplessness strikes it can be difficult to to have a restful night.

Today I am sharing one of my latest favorite spicy dinner meals, Sweet Chilli Pizza with homemade thin crust. It’s a great meal for the whole family and the dough can be prepared ahead of time for a quick weeknight meal.
Ingredients for thin crust pizza dough
- 5 cups of flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 ½ teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 2 ¼ cups cold water
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Ingredients for Pizza toppings
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Pepperoni
- Red and white onions chopped
- Zucchini thinly sliced
- Chopped sausage
- Sweet chili sauce
Directions for thin crust
Pour the flour into a large bowl. Add the yeast, salt and cold water combine well using a wooden spoon.
Sprinkle some flour on the kitchen counter and dump the pizza dough onto the counter. Divide it into two pieces. Sprinkle a little more flour on top and knead each piece of dough with your hands for about 10 to 15 minutes until a smooth ball forms.
Place the dough balls on a lightly oiled cookie sheet and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.
Cover with plastic wrap and allow to sit at room temperature and rise for 2 hours in a draft free area.
Once the dough has risen, sprinkle the counter with a little bit of flour and take one piece of dough and press it with your fingers until you have a ½ inch thick circle. Use a rolling pin dusted with flour to roll the dough out and place it on a 10” round baking sheet.

Add your pizza sauce and toppings of your choice, then finish with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce over the whole pizza. Start in the center and pour the sauce in a clockwise direction, around and around until your get to the outer edge of the pizza.
Directions for baking
Preheat oven to 425 and place pizza on the middle or lower rack.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Your pizza is ready to cut and serve!
