Homemade London Fog

Homemade London Fog

I was first introduced to a drink called the London Fog about 10 years ago. I was attending cosmetology school and I went out for coffee with a friend from class who recommended that instead of my normal macchiato I try a London Fog. I was intrigued because I had never tried a tea latte before. For those of you out of the loop a London Fog is a warm tea latte made with Earl Grey tea, steamed milk and vanilla syrup. It’s the perfect drink to warm you up on a dreary morning (which is pretty much any morning in the pacific northwest)

10 years later I am still drinking London Fogs and I am going to show you how to make one for yourself at home for pennies instead of paying a coffee shop nearly $5 for a cup.

Ingredients:

  • Earl Grey tea bags
  • Milk- any kind will do but I use 2%
  • Vanilla syrup

Directions:

Begin by boiling some water and brew up 8oz of strong tea. Set it aside

Next steam 4 oz of milk. I used the milk steamer on our cappuccino maker. If you don’t have a milk steamer you can heat the milk in a pot on the stove and wisk it as it heats. Do not let it boil.

Once the milk is heated combine the milk with the tea. The ratio should be two thirds tea to one third milk. Add a shot of vanilla syrup and gently stir it in.

Now curl up on a chair with a comfy blanket and sip your yummy tea.
