Supplies

  • Essential oil diffuser (I bought mine at the At Home store)
  • Plastic skull (sized appropriately to fit on the diffuser. I bought this at the At Home store)
  • Scissors
  • Essential oils of your choice

Instructions

Time needed: 20 minutes

  1. Choose your skull and diffuser

Select a skull that complements the size of your essential oil diffuser. You want a plastic skull that fits comfortably on top of the diffuser without obstructing the mist output. I purchased both the diffuser and the plastic skull at the At Home store.

  2. Cut a hole in the bottom of the skull

Cut a hole in the bottom of the skull big enough that the skull can easily slide over the diffuser.Plastic skull with a hole cut in the bottom.

  3. Cut a hole in the top of the skull

Make a hole in the top of the skull about 2 inches in diameter. You need to place the hole where the top of the diffuser will be blowing the steam.Plastic skull with a hole cut in the top

  4. Prepare the diffuser

Fill the diffuser up with water and add several drops of your favorite essential oil. Place the top on and plug it in.Close up of a hand turning on an essential oil diffuser.

  5. Slide the skull over the diffuser

Slide the skull over the diffuser making sure the hole where the mist blows out of is unobstructed. Be mindful not to obstruct the diffuser's vents or openings, as they're essential for the diffusion process.

  6. Turn the diffuser on and enjoy the scents.

Turn on the diffuser, and watch as the eerie yet enchanting mist emerges from the skull, carrying the fragrance throughout your space.Close up of essential oil mist blowing through the top of a plastic skull.

With a touch of imagination and a willingness to experiment, you can transform an ordinary essential oil diffuser into a captivating piece of decor that beautifully balances the eerie and the soothing. By following this step-by-step guide, you'll not only enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy but also create a conversation-worthy focal point in your home. So, gather your materials, let your creativity flow, and craft a spooky-chic ambiance that's uniquely yours.
