Hey Gnomies

Today I'm sharing the latest project in my mini kitchen renovation.
I'm almost done transforming my bright lime green kitchen into a lighter, brighter farmhouse style kitchen.
Here are some of the projects I have tackled so far:

  • New backsplash
  • New countertops
  • Painted cabinets

I only have a couple projects left before things are finally complete.
I was recently contacted by EZ Faux Decor with an offer to test out their vinyl appliance and counter covers.
I was eager to try out their new black stainless steel film for my dishwasher.

I am hoping to replace my oven later this year with a stainless steel model but our white dishwasher is still in good condition. We replaced the motor in the dishwasher a couple of months ago so I'd like to wait as long as possible before we upgrade.

The faux stainless vinyl sheet arrived in a rolled up tube.

Before you apply it you need to let it acclimate in your home for a day, just like you would before installing vinyl flooring.

Applying the vinyl film is like applying a large decal to your appliance.

I followed these steps to apply the film to my dishwasher:

  • Spray the appliance with water.
  • Start to peel off the back of the vinyl skin and press it onto the appliance.
  • Use the little card it comes with to smooth out the air bubbles as you go.
  • If needed, use a warm hairdryer to heat the vinyl so it is easier to stretch across the corners.
  • Trim the edges with a utility knife.

The vinyl can be easily removed with no damage to the appliance when you are ready to take it off. These films are great for renters.

I had extra left over so I decided to cover my oven as well just to see how it would look.

It really looks like real metal. It's awesome. After so, it is important to clean your dishwasher filter.

The great thing about it is if you don't apply it perfectly the first time you can move it around a little and make it perfect.

What do you think of my dishwasher makeover? Let me know in the comments and make sure you check out all the stainless steel and granite films at EZ Faux Decor.
