4 FANCY TOWEL FOLDING METHODS
There is no one perfect way to fold towels, as it all comes down to how you like to display your towels and store them, i.e. in a cabinet, on a shelf, or on a towel bar.
There is no one perfect way to fold towels, as it all comes down to how you like to display your towels and store them, i.e. in a cabinet, on a shelf, or on a towel bar.
Before you begin, make sure your towels are freshly washed with no musty smells.
1. TRADITIONAL HOTEL FOLDING
This method gives your towels clean, smooth edges which makes it ideal for towels that are stacked and stored on a bench or open shelf.
- Start by spreading your bath towel on a flat surface, then fold the long end into the middle and do the same on the other side.
- Then fold the short ends into the middle, making sure you have left a gap where the ends meet as this will give you room for another fold.
- Lastly, grab one end and fold it over the other and you have a wonderfully folded bath towel! Smooth out the surface and stack the towels.
2. SPA-INSPIRED ROLLING METHOD
To make your towels look even more beautiful, take your cues from your favorite luxury spas and roll your towels rather than fold them.
This method saves space, keeps the towels close together, and is great if you store your towels in open cubbies or baskets. If you have face towels or wash cloths, they can easily be folded the same way!
- First, spread the towel on a flat surface. Diagonally fold one corner towards the middle so the short side matches the longer side of the towel, with a pointy edge.
- Fold the towel in half lengthwise, then turn the towel over so the folded edge is at the bottom.
- Finally, roll the towel tightly starting from the short side across the point. Once you’re at the end, tuck in the point to keep it securely rolled.
3. TOWEL BAR FOLDING METHOD
This traditional method is ideal if you hang your bathroom towels on a towel rack. It gives you easy access to your towels so you can grab one quickly and drape it over a towel bar.
- First, fold your towel in thirds lengthwise down the long edges.
- Then fold in half before bringing the short end towards the middle. And you’re done!
4. FOLDING METHOD TO REDUCE WEAR
Keep your towels fluffy with this folding method to prevent your towels from wearing out.
This is also a great space-saving technique as well as reducing potential wear that a towel might experience if it’s hung up on a towel bar.
- First, fold your towel in half lengthwise down the length of the towel.
- Then fold it half width-wise, joining the shorter ends together.
- Finally, fold it in half widthwise for a flat, wide fold that you can easily stack.
If your towels needed to be folded more compactly for better storage, then fold the towel in thirds rather than in half.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS THERE A CORRECT WAY TO FOLD A TOWEL?
The correct way to fold a bath towel depends on a couple of things, such as where you want to store the towels, how much space you have to store the towels, and if you need to maximize the space.
Depending on your answer, you can decide how to efficiently fold a bath towel.
But if you would like to leave towels out for a guest or you want your towels to look extra fancy, then I recommend a rolling method rather than a folding method.
WHICH IS BETTER? FOLDING OR ROLLING TOWELS?
Honestly, one method isn’t better than the other. Both are great and make your towels look beautiful while saving space.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO FOLD A TOWEL FOR DEEP SHELVES?
Instead of folding your towels differently for deep shelves, think about stacking towels with two stacks placing one group in front of the other. Another option is to place towels that you use less often (like beach towels) at the back of the shelf.
HOW DO PROFESSIONALS FOLD TOWELS?
Generally professionals will use either the hotel folding method with stacks of towels and wash cloths in size order or the spa rolled method. Both methods have their own benefits and create visually appealing spaces.
