Rocky Road Honey Nut Cheerios Bars

Now that winter break is over and school is in session again it's back to business as usual for my family. It's nice to get back into a routine, but I have to say I definitely miss sleeping in on the weekdays.

On a recent trip to Walmart I picked up the following eligible products:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios™
  • Yoplait® Original Fridge Pack
  • Mott's Medleys® Fruit Snacks
  • Annie's™ Cheddar Bunnies
  • Old El Paso™ Taco Dinner Kit

One of the after school activities my daughter likes to help me with is baking. Together we whipped up these Rocky Road Honey Nut Cheerios Cereal Bars with the Cheerios we bought.

Ingredients

  • 1 10oz bag of mini marshmallows
  • 2 cups of mini marshmallows (frozen)
  • 3 tablespoon of butter or margarine
  • ½ cup of creamy peanut or almond butter (no almond butter? Check out our favorite almond butter substitutes)
  • 4 cups of Honey Nut Cheerios cereal
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • 1 cup of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (frozen)

Directions:

Begin by placing the 2 cups of mini marshmallows and one cup of mini chocolate chips in the freezer. You want them to be cold before you mix them in at the end so they don’t melt.

In a large pot on medium heat mix the butter and 10oz bag of mini marshmallows. Stir until melted and then add the cocoa and almond or peanut butter. Add the Honey Nut Cheerios and stir. Mix in the frozen marshmallows and chocolate chips.

Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray and pour the cereal mixture into the pan and pat it down.

Place pan in the fridge for at least half an hour.

Cut into squares.

Make approximately 15 servings
