Word of the Year Necklace
Have you picked your word of the year for 2018?
There has been a trend over the past few years to pick a word of the year. The idea is that the word you choose will represent what you want to accomplish or achieve over the next year. You keep the word as a visual reminder to help keep yourself on track. You can put the word in a frame on your nightstand, pin it on your bulletin board or keep it on your desk. Or in my case as a necklace around your neck.
I realize the idea is very Tony Robbins-esque, new age hippie stuff. And if my husband is reading this: you can stop rolling your eyes now, Rob.
Simply said, I believe in this stuff because it works. Anytime I try to manifest something in my life I know I can get what I want if I work hard enough at it. I believe in the law of attraction and the power of positive thinking. I believe what occupies your thoughts will become your reality.
Last year my word was “community” not as in the local community that I live in but in the “online” community for Crafty Little Gnome, my blog and jewelry line.
My goal was to grow an audience that was more engaged and grow my social media following. I wanted to create blog content that my “Gnomies” would love.
Based on my stats I feel like I definitely achieved that goal. My blog traffic has more than doubled in the past year and my social media stats are growing everyday. This means that I get more offers from sponsors and that I get to keep writing this blog that I love. It also means I don’t have to go get a “real job” and spend time away from my family working some kind of terrible customer service gig. I’ve spent enough of my life doing that and I’m thankful everyday that I don’t have to do it anymore.
This year my word is “remarkable” Why remarkable? Because that’s how I’d like the content I create to be described as.
I have been doing a lot of reading and research about what makes things “go viral” online and what makes people want to share things that they see on Facebook or Pinterest and one of the things that came up over and over again was to make your content “remarkable”. Create something so amazing and interesting that people simply can’t help but share it.
Definition of remarkable:
If you have been reading this blog for a while then it’s good news for you because it means I’ll be doing my best to create remarkable content and projects. Hopefully striving to be remarkable will draw in more readers and help me grow my community even more.
I printed the word “remarkable” and placed it inside one of my Message in a Bottle Necklaces so I have it as a reminder around my neck every day.
