ITEMS TO USE DIY DISINFECTING SPRAY ON:

I used Everclear for this recipe. You can use the 120 proof or the 151. The 120 is 60% alcohol by volume and is the minimum you can use to kill germs according to the CDC. The 151 has higher percentage and will work even better if you can get your hands on it.

What type of alcohol should you use?

Yes, apple cider vinegar will work just as well as white vinegar. You can use either or a mixture of both.

Can you use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar?

No essential oils can "kill" germs but many of them have antibacterial properties. Lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus and lemon can all help prevent the growth of some germs but in order to properly disinfect you need to use something from the list of approved cleaners by the CDC.

What essential oils can kill germs

Vinegar alone will kill about 80% of germs. It won’t however kill the really nasty stuff. Vinegar can be used as a safer bleach alternative for some applications, like cleaning. It is also biodegradable.

Does vinegar alone sanitize?
