Summer Entertaining with Candles
Summer is winding down, but that doesn’t mean we can’t seize the day and enjoy every drop of sunshine and nice weather before autumn rolls in. This is the perfect time of year to plan at least one last get-together with family and friends before school starts and the temperatures dip.
Aside from delicious food and fun décor, one of the must haves for any party is a couple of lit candles to fill the room with a warm glow and invigorating aroma.
Today I’m going to share my best ways to entertain this summer with candles using The Home Scents collection from Chesapeake Bay Candles. This is a classic everyday assortment of fragrance favorites. Every candle in this collection features:
- Clear glass cylinder jar with silver metallic lid in a contemporary
- Made in Maryland with ingredients from around the world
- Lead free cotton wick
- 80 hour burn time
Here’s how I’m using candles as an entertaining and hospitality tool this summer:
Before guests arrive
Before your next party light a scented candle or two in your home. Not only will it help freshen up the space before guests arrive but scent really adds to the atmosphere of your room. Think of fragrance as the final accessory to the ambiance of your home. A clean, well decorated house helps guests feel comfortable and is pleasing to the eye, but scent appeals to your senses on a whole other level.
I recommend: Caramel Latte
Indulge in a caramel delight as notes of warm nutmeg and spicy cinnamon are baked into perfection atop vanilla, brown sugar and musk.
In the bathroom
Make guests feel more comfortable by keeping a lit candle in your bathroom to help hide bathroom odors. Light a candle in the restroom before guests arrive to help keep things fresh and nice smelling all night long.
I recommend: Tahitian Vanilla
The rich, creamy essence of exotic Tahitian Vanilla accented with subtle nuances of fruits, florals, woods, and musks.
Romantic Outdoor Lighting
Whether you are planning an evening barbeque or intimate dinner party, candles are pretty much a must! It’s a well known fact that we all look better in candlelight. Set a few candles out on the table at your next outdoor party.
An invigorating essence of freshly peeled mandarin tossed with brilliant red currant and touches of soft musk.
For the Guest Bedroom
Many people spend some time travelling over the summer holidays. This summer you may find yourself with house guests for a few days. A nice way to help them feel welcome and at home is to place a candle in their bedroom. Help your guests feel cozy and relaxed in your house with candle on their bedside table.
I recommend: Snuggly Sweater
Snuggly Sweater for comforting notes of warm wool wrap around lavender and rose as it rests on a base of white amber, vanilla and musk ready to snuggle up to.
For the Hostess
Don’t forget about the host. Candles make a great hostess gift and chances are you will be attending a party or two yourself this summer. Everyone I know loves scented candles and unlike flowers that will wilt in a few days, candles last so much longer. Candles are a great gift for every occasion from housewarming to the holidays. Every time your friend lights their candle, they will think of you, the person who gave it to them. You can include a candle in a gift basket or just by itself.
I recommend: Waterfall
Waterfall is a crisp scent of a morning breeze splashed with hints of cool citrus and fresh water lily amid soft cotton undertones.
I have to admit my favorite scent in the collection is Jasmine Bouquet so if I’m the one you are planning on giving a candle to I will take two or three of these!
Jasmine Bouquet is an enchanting floral fragrance infused with rich jasmine and magnolia tied into a bouquet of dewy lilies and soft green leaves.
