Painted House Before and After
Last week I shared my front porch make over with you. I cleaned up, painted and decorated the our front porch and it looks so lovely and fresh! We actually painted the whole house and with the help of family and friends it took no time at all. The fact that my house is one level also helped 🙂
Here is another shot of the “before”. I was going to paint the house last summer but I got busy and waited too long and the weather turned bad before I had a chance to start. I’m glad I got this big project finished this year.
Alright, lets get to the “after”
The paint is Behr brand from Home Depot. The white is Marshmallow White and the grey is Mansard Stone.
I really liked the Behr exterior paint. It’s nice to work with and has great coverage.
The garden in front is looking a little sad. I trimmed my three bushes in the front but they grew quite large earlier this year and choked out some of the other plants. I moved some of my potted flowers and herbs into the empty spaces for now. Next year I will plant more flowers and have it looking full and lush.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. These ivy and geraniums are fake! I always find it difficult to keep plants alive in these window boxes because the soil is shallow and the sun is so hot in this area. My mom gave me the fake ivy and the geraniums were on clearance at Joann fabric. They were $1 per bunch. I think I will keep doing fake flowers in the boxes. They look real enough from far away and it’s the ultimate low maintenance gardening!
What do you think of my color choices?
Here’s a close up of the porch area:
Next spring/ summer I’m planning to rebuild the front porch steps and we have a lot of work to do on the back deck. The wood is old and rotting and it’s only a matter of time before someone’s foot goes right though it. Luckily, I’ve got all winter to figure out my game plan.
Since we will have nice weather for the next month or so, I’m going to get my last big outdoor project done soon. I’m painting and decorating my daughter’s wooden play set.
I can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be super rad. Stay tuned!
