Musical Horn Wind Chime Tutorial

How to Make a Wind Chime

Hey Gnomies,

I wanted to share a quick and fun musical horn wind chime tutorial with you today.

I love to use recycled materials I find at the thrift store in my crafts. I found an old metal horn on one of my recent Value Village treasure hunts. At first I thought I would make it into blue French horn, like from the show How I Met Your Mother (if you aren’t familiar, you can check this out to learn more)

I never got around to painting my horn blue, but then I had the idea to turn it into a musical horn wind chime.

Since the weather has gotten warmer outside and I have been spending more time in the garden, I wanted to make a few new wind chime accessories to hang from my porch and the surrounding trees.

I like unusual and funky yard art, so my horn wind chime fits right in.

This is a fun rainy day craft to get the kids involved in. Here’s how I made it:

Supplies for Making a Wind Chime:

  • Old horn
  • Fishing line
  • beads
  • keys, and other random artifacts
  • leather cord

Directions for Making a Wind Chime:

I started by attaching a piece of leather cord from the top of the horn so that I could hang it from the tree. Then I tied pieces of fishing line in different lengths from the bottom of the horn.

I strung on beads and tied knots in the fishing line as I went along so that the beads would stay in place.

I finished off each length of fishing line with either a key or different artifacts from my craft collection like agate slices and optical lenses.
