Jem and the Holograms Costume

Jem and the Holograms Costume

When I was little I loved the kid’s show “Jem and the holograms”. Do you remember that 80’s cartoon? It was about a girl with magic earrings that turned her into a rock star.

I was with my daughter at the Halloween store in town last week and saw some sparkly pink eye shadow. I thought it would go perfectly with my Jem costume. When I got to the counter, the cute, young girl dressed up as Harley Quinn who was ringing up my purchase asked me what my costume was going to be. When I replied Jem from Jem and the holograms she had a confused look on her face and asked what that was. I explained it was an 80’s cartoon show and then I immediately felt old. Ugh, of course an 18 year old would have no idea who Jem was. I hope you do, but if not- here is a refresher:

This is an easy Halloween costume for all you Jem fans. All you need is some sparkly pink paper, earring bases and some 1980’s make up and clothes. 80’s style has been trendy for a while now so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get this Jem and the Holograms costume together.

Pink sparkly paper and earring bases are available at the craft store.

Draw or trace some stars on the back of the glittery paper.

Cut out the starts and super glue the earring bases on to them. Give them at least a half hour to dry. Get your pink make up done and off the shoulder top on while the earrings are drying. If you don’t have pink hair like me (which you probably don’t) you will need to get yourself a pink wig.

Now you are ready to head out on the town looking fierce and hopefully people will actually know who you are supposed to be for Halloween 🙂

What is your costume this year? Let me know in the comments what crafty things you are working on.
