Activated Charcoal Face Mask

Activated charcoal is the latest trendy ingredient in the  skin care industry. There are so many beauty products for sale with charcoal as one of the active ingredients. Activated charcoal is made from wood and coconut shells. It’s similar to common charcoal but it is made for use as a medicine. To “activate” the charcoal it is heated in the presence of gas that causes the charcoal to develop lots of internal spaces that help to trap chemicals. The capsules are commonly used to treat poisonings and help with digestive issues or gas. The charcoal binds to toxins to help pull them away. You can find activated charcoal for sale on Amazon or at your local drugstore.

I came up with a simple face mask you can make yourself with activated charcoal that will give you the skin of your dreams

Ingredients:

  •  1 activated charcoal capsule
  • 1 teaspoon of bentonite clay

The activated charcoal helps to pull toxins and other yucky stuff out of your skin. Bentonite clay is a fine clay powder that is able to absorb toxins and heavy metals, impurities and chemicals. Together these ingredients will help absorb excess oils and sebum from your pores, and help detoxify the skin on your face. You can also use this mask on other parts of your body like your neck and back.

Mix dry ingredients together and add water a couple of drops at a time until you have a thick paste.

Apply to your face avoiding eybrows or sensitive areas

Let the mask sit for 10-20 minutes or let it dry on your face and rinse off with warm water

As it dries it will feel very tight. Definitely make sure you avoid your eyebrows because as it dries you try to scrub it off you could end up pulling out some hairs!
