5 Ways to Welcome Spring Into Your Home

Hey Gnomies,

Spring is on the way and if you’re like me I’m sure you are super excited for warmer weather, longer days and lots of flowers blooming in the garden.

Since it’s still a little too cool outside to spend too much time out in the garden. It’s a good time of year to try to welcome spring inside your home. Spring cleaning is obviously popular this time of year but by changing up the décor in your home and adding a few plants and flowers you can get a head start into the spirit of spring. Here’s how I’m getting my home ready for the changing season.

Put away all your winter accessories

It’s time to pack away all your winter blankets, big boots and coats and trade the linens in your bedroom for something lighter. If you have any holiday decorations (sadly I’m guilty of this one and have some snowflakes still hanging from the ceiling in my hallway) make sure you finally put them away for good until next winter.

Get some new houseplants

Plants and flowers bring life into you home. Since it’s probably a little bit too cold outdoors to really get into any outdoor gardening, adding some new houseplants will help you satisfy your green thumb. I started to feel like I was going a bit overboard with all my houseplants but then I realized that there is no such thing as too many plants. Embrace your inner plant lady and go wild with reckless abandon at your local nursery. Planting a window sill herb garden is another fun way to garden indoors.

Hang some new art in your space

Brighten up your walls with some new art. It’s doesn’t have to be expensive. I recently bought a few new prints on clearance for only $5 each. You can also download free prints online, print them yourself at home and frame them. I have quite a few free printables available on this blog that you can download. I will be publishing my spring themed ones soon so stay tuned.

Lighten the ambiance in your home with a new fragrance

An easy way to set the mood in your home is with scent. After a long winter I crave a lighter and fresher home fragrance. If you are planning to host guests or do any spring entertaining, making your home smell good is a must.

Create some spring themed craft projects

Obviously I love to do craft projects. I’m pretty addicted to creating and making pretty things for my home. I recently made this spring wreath out of an old bicycle wheel I found in the junk pile and some fake flowers from a local dollar store. Don’t be afraid to play with new art medium or experiment with recycled materials. This is a great time of year to hone your paper flower making skills.

The home could use some improvements, definitely. Spring is a wonderful time to do this.
