Morning oats
3 Day Fall Detox
Thursday will mark the first day of autumn. It’s a transitional time of the year and time to get ready for the colder months and prepare for winter. This weekend I will be doing a three day cleanse. It’s an easy detox to help prepare my body and mind for the changes ahead. At the change of the seasons, like spring and fall is the perfect time to do a cleansing program like this 3 day fall detox.
My plan consists of three meals a day along with supplements, plenty of water and herbal tea. I will be eating the same meals on each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eating the same thing everyday makes shopping easier and saves money on groceries.

Warm water with lemon
Three Day Meal Plan
Upon Rising: Drink a large glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon. Make sure the water is room temperature or warmer.
Meal One: Simple Oatmeal
I love oatmeal and eat it every morning. It’s the perfect breakfast food. For breakfast each morning eat one cup of cooked oats with ½ teaspoon of chia seeds. Add some chopped apple and raisins on top if you need a little sweetness and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Breakfast shouldn’t be a big heavy meal. In the morning we are “breaking the fast,” so it’s nice to eat a small, healthy breakfast that’s easy on the digestive system.
Meal Two: Big Green Salad
Lunch should be your biggest meal of the day. You need lots of fuel to keep your body going throughout the afternoon. Eat as much salad as you like and try to include a variety of seasonal fruits and veggies.
- 2 cups cooked chickpeas
- 2 cups chopped broccoli
- 4 cups of kale
- ¼ shredded red cabbage
- ½ cup chopped parsley and cilantro
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 cup cooked quinoa
Dressing:
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- salt, pepper

Warm Winter soup
Meal Three: Warm Winter Soup
Soup is a great option to eat in the evening. Because it’s liquid, it is gentle on the digestive system.
- 1 large onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 cups chopped cauliflower
- 6 cups veggie stock
- 2 carrots
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 large sweet potato
- 4 cups of spinach
- salt and pepper to taste
Dice the onion and garlic and roast it in a large soup pot with some oil. Once it is browned add your chopped veggies, veggie stock salt and pepper. Let simmer for 40 minutes. Blend with an immersion blender or food processor.
If you get hungry between meals, snack on fruits and veggies or grains like brown rice or oats. Avoid processed foods, sugar and caffeine.

youtheory Turmeric Capsules
Supplementation:
In addition to my meal plan I take several supplements every day whether I am doing a detox or not. One of my favorite supplements is turmeric. The main ingredient in turmeric responsible for its many health benefits is called curcumin. It supports your body’s healthy inflammation response.
youtheory® Turmeric Extra Strength 120 capsules have a new formulation. They now have 1,000 mg of turmeric per daily serving. The old formula only had 450 mg per daily serving in three tablets and the new formula has 1,000 mg in two tablets. Overall there is 3X the amount of turmeric in a convenient vegan capsule. I headed to my local Costco to pick up a bottle of their new formula in the new packaging. The new package has an orange label on top and says “extra strength formula” with 1,000 mg on the front.

youtheory turmeric capsules are enhanced with black pepper to boost the absorption and bioavailability of the curcuminoids which makes it a better option than using regular turmeric from your spice rack. It absorbs up to 20x more curcuminoids than regular turmeric. youtheory is vegan, vegetarian and made with gluten-free ingredients.
My other daily supplements:
- Multivitamin for women
- Fish oil
- Probiotic
Exercise
It’s important to get moving everyday but when you are doing a detox it’s important to take it easy and not over exert yourself. Walking and gentle yoga are great exercises to do while detoxing.

Great ideas! Have been thinking of trying turmeric supplements this fall! I’ve heard applying turmeric powder directly to your skin can also be beneficial. Ever done that before?
Hmmm never tried that but I have heard it’s good for your skin. Beware the yellow in the spice might stain your skin though!
