Spring is in the air and after a long, cold winter I’m sure we’re all ready for warmer weather and spending time outdoors.
One of my favorite things about living in the Pacfic Northwest is that there are so many activities that we can do outdoors. Hiking, swimming, kayaking or snowboarding, you name it, and we can do it over here in this part of the country.
If your family likes spending time outdoors like my family does you will know it’s important not to forget a special member of your family when you go out on your outdoor excursions. Your dog!
I talk a lot about my pug, Doug on this blog but I have another dog, a yellow Lab named Luna. Luna is 7 years old and like most Lab retrievers she loves spending time outside with the family.
The spring and summer months call for adventure and outdoor exploration. Whether you are camping, fishing or up to another fun outdoor activity make sure you bring along some tasty food for yourself and your fur baby.
Today I’m going to share a recipe for lamb and beef gyro burritos. It’s inspired by the wholesome ingredients Luna’s new favorite dog food, Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® PEAK Open Range Recipe™ with Beef, Venison & Lamb. The gyro burritos are for the humans in your family and the Nutrish Dog Food is obviously for your dog, but there’s no reason why both you and your pets can’t eat well when you are enjoying the great outdoors. These gyro burritos are the perfect take-along meal to bring with you when you are camping or hiking. You can make them ahead of time and store them in your cooler, or pack the ingredients separately and assemble them when you’re ready to eat.
Nutrish is available at Target. It’s protein rich with 30% high quality protein, grain free and always uses real U.S. farm raised beef as the number one ingredient. It’s made for dogs of all sizes so both Luna and Doug can enjoy it and a portion of proceeds help animals in need through Rachael’s Rescue®
Whenever you are transitioning your pet over to a new food gradually introduce the food by incorporating it into your current dog food over the course of 7-10 days. Slowly replace your dog’s current food with PEAK until it’s completely switched over.
