Last week my husband and I visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We left our daughter at home with her grandparents and had a nice trip, just the two of us in the hot sunny weather.
The hotel we stayed at was right on the beach which was perfect. We could either lounge by the pool or head over to the ocean to play in the waves.
We were only about a 10 minute bus ride from downtown Puerto Vallarta. Most of the locals we talked to said that Puerto Vallarta was more “Mexican” that a lot of the other tourist cities in Mexico, like Cabo San Lucas. I have been to Cancun, Cabo and a couple of border towns just south of California and I have to agree. The downtown part of Puerto Vallarta has old cobblestone streets and authentic Mexican restaurants. The boardwalk that runs through downtown is very nice and there are lots of interesting art installations on it. There is also an old Cathedral and other historic buildings in town worth checking out.
We took a boat trip to a town called Yelapa during our trip. The boat stopped in one area for snorkeling and then we continued on to Yelapa, hiked up to a waterfall area and then checked out the beach.
Yelapa was one of my favorite parts of the trip. We also made a new lizard friend named Pedro.
My husband was brave and went parasailing. I am afraid of heights so there was no way I was going up in that thing. Rob thought it was tons of fun though.
It was a fun vacation and really nice for the two of us to get a break and go away together. My husband is changing jobs soon (working for the same company, just a different position) and won’t be able to get time off again for a while so it will be some time before we get to go away together.
What did you get up to during your Spring Break this year? Have you ever been to Mexico? Tell me about it in the comments!
